Preschool for All

ECCDC is proud to be a certified site for the Preschool For All (PFA) program in San Diego County.  Currently we operate 4 sessions of PFA and serve approximately 96 four year old children on a daily basis in PFA.  PFA is sponsored by the First 5 San Diego Program and the San Diego County Office of Education.  The PFA program has very high standards for staff education and training as well requirements that must be met by the staff in the classroom.

Preschool for All-
Preschool for All is a term used in California to describe an "effective preschool" delivery system.  This refers to the idea that all preschool-age children should have free, voluntary access to quality preschool regardless of family income, starting with the children that need it most.
"95 percent of California kindergarten teachers say their students who attended preschool are better prepared for kindergarten in both social and academic areas..."

ECCDC participates in the California Adult Child Food Program (CACFP).  This program provides funds to help all children in our preschool receive a fortified breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack daily.  The kitchen staff uses the USDA regulations to prepare meals that meet the guidelines set up for the age of the child.  The meal pattern as set by the USDA includes milk, vegetables, fruit, meat or meat alternatives, and grains and breads.  In order to qualify for the CACFP program our agency must determine the family's eligibility by certifying each child for the program every October.  This way ECCDC is able to provide the quality meals the children crave.

Good News! The first PFA Parent Newsletter entitled Let's Talk is now available to download from the PFA website. Here is the link to the website where an English or Spanish version can be downloaded: http://www.sdcoe.net/student/eeps/pfa/?loc=id
