Dear Parents and Families,
We all know that young children enjoy play. It may look like children are just "playing", but there are many benefits of play for your child and for YOU.
- Play is a child's way to learn about their world
- Play builds self esteem and other learning skills
- Play encourages social relationships with others
- Play builds positive relationships between you and your child
- Play helps us all to relax and have fun!
Try taking a little time each day to enjoy "PLAY" with your child.
TIPS:
- Let you child LEAD and choose the play activity
- Use "face to face" interactions when you are playing
- Have fun! Relax- change the rules of the game at times
- When play is almost done, tell your child that the play will end
Talk about WHAT activity you will both be doing next; this may help with a smooth transition
- Reward and praise your child for cleaning up and going to the next activity
